Crazy Lava Taxi Game Thing

This is the game of March!
Whoever has an idea what "Crazy Taxi" is about, and loves Lava... well thats your game!

You are a taxi in the crazy lava city with crazy lava people, and those people want to go somewhere else, and you have to help them with their problem.
But these folks are in a hurry, so you better drive as fast as you can to drive them to their destination.

And please note: DO NOT TOUCH THE LAVA.
It's going to cost you some precious time. And as you know, time is money, and your lifetime is limited and constantly running out.

Everytime you are doing a good job at delivering those people, you get paid with more lifetime. When you're too slow, you still have to deliver them, but you're not going to get anything of the time back!

Your goal is to find and deliver all the people on the map. The game ends when either you found all the people and delivered them or your time goes down to 0.
(Btw, everytime you do touch the lava, you loose 5 seconds!)
So, you're in for the game, yes?
You can easily play it in your browser! Please check out the text below the game for instructions and controls!

This game is written using haxe and the engine haxepunk, with the IDE FlashDevelop.

The End of March (or: Why I didn't write any blogposts in march)

Beginning of March

Until the 6th of March I was snowboarding/skiing in the Alps, yeah! So I had a little disadvantage, dun duun. Nevertheless, I have decided to learn a new programming language for March:
Click to visit haxe.org
The one who convinced me to use this is my 1GAM partner and mentor @tobiaseriksson
This is the engine I use
So armed with these weapons, I started to learn Haxe, which is quite similar to Java. I think it was fairly simple to adapt this new language and learn the new engine, so thats good!

Progression of March

So first off, I want to tell you something about one of my favourite things in my life. It's a forest youth recreation home of Heilbronn (the city I live in) and I know, that sounds kind of boring. BUT ITS NOT! It's one of the best things happening in my life and I am proud to be part of it. In the past I have attended to it as a kid, in the meantime I am a counselor myself. It's a colorful, loving place, a paradise I would suggest, because it is a very accepting. Passion is what drives everybody there.
So during March there was a ot of stuff going on about this! It takes up alot of time, and I am happy that we barely have electronic devices up there, so I was not able to haxe on my game at all during the time there.

Anyways, during the progression of march I did some progress! The people who follow my tweets have seen all my progress posts and were able to play them hands-on.

But, oh wait, I havn't even told you what kind of game I am making this month, have I?

Crazy Lava Taxi Game Thing

That's the quirky name of my march game. It's a topdown 2D taxi game, where you have to dodge Lava in order to get the people you pick up to the desired destination!
Go ahead an play all the little steps of progress I made, right and simple in your Browser!
March 8
You can read the attached changelog, when you scroll down in the "newer" versions.
Heres the newest version!

End of March

It's a few more days, and I am still not close to finishing the game. But I am getting there! Maybe even with the extended deadline of 4 more days into april. But I am looking forward to finishing this game, it was very fun creating it!

Updates! (About no Updates and misc)

Well well well.
What should I say.
Okay, first, I just wrote my last exam (it went alright) so I finally feel at ease. I did have a week off before that exam and since I wasn't learning alot, I could have worked on my february game... But from the words you probably already got the point:
I didn't.
I do have an excuse, but that doesn't change the status quo: My game will not be a very finished-like one at the end of the month. PLUS I only have this week left because I am going skiing in the last week of february! My plans are to just make... like 3 levels, and you can't select the level, and then you juuust.. win or die. Whatever. Add some boost maybe. I kind of just want to wrap it up or something...

ANYWAYS
I have big news on my upcoming game(s)!
I teamed up with @tobiaseriksson a very cool computer science student and our ideas are really promising for march! I am super excited to work with him, and I will finally take a huge step away from that terrible java (which by the way is the only language I have learned so far, but the packaging is just aweful), and we will try to work with HAXE! A... I don't know really.
It's funny, we both don't know Haxe alot yet.. but it'll work out just fine!
Go check out my partners website ont www.tobier.se!
